Lightweight Truck Campers

Transform Your Pickup Truck: Lightweight Truck Campers

Lightweight Truck Campers

Many people believe that the purchase of a camper or recreational vehicle requires a tremendous cash outlay to purchase an additional vehicle -- but nothing could be further from the truth!  As a matter of fact, if you already own a pickup truck, you're halfway there.  To complete your setup, all you need to do is purchase a truck camper.  Lightweight truck campers are available in a wide variety of styles and designs, to fit just about any model of truck you may own --

Bigfoot Campers

One company that has long been established as a manufacturer of lightweight truck campers is Bigfoot Industries.  They make three different series of lightweight truck campers: The 1500 Series, the 2500 Series, and the 3000 Series.

Bigfoot 1500 Series

The 1500 Series of lightweight truck campers from Bigfoot Industries comes with the following features: The exterior is manufactured from a lightweight, two-piece fiberglass exterior shell, as well as 1 inch of high density EPS insulation, radius corner safety glass windows, a folding assist handle and a molded propane tank storage compartment.  In addition, these lightweight truck campers also come with a sewer hose storage compartment, aluminum rear bumpers, blocking for the rear awning, a step bracket and a rack and ladder.

If you look inside the 1500 Series of lightweight truck campers, such features as washable vinyl wall paneling, 60" x 74" foam mattress, a full 36 inches of headroom in the bunk area, bedside storage boxes, and a handy TV shelf, a three burner cooktop and a 16,000 BTU forced-air furnace with electronic ignition!

Capri Campers

Another great company manufacturing lightweight truck campers is Capri Campers.  Located in Texas, some of these models have been manufactured for over 30 years.  Capri Campers makes a number of different lightweight truck camper models: Model 42, the Lariat, the Ranchero, the Sportsman, the Vaquero, the Rodeo and the Rodeo Deluxe.

The Model Which I like Best Is the Rodeo Deluxe.  This lightweight truck camper is 84 inches in width and weighs just over 1000 pounds (1150 pounds) -- well within the carrying limits of today's trucks.  This lightweight truck camper has a 55 inch overhang and a 6'2" standing height.  The Rodeo Deluxe has a base price of just over $7,700.  If you purchase one of these lightweight truck campers you will find that standard equipment includes such amenities as a shower and sink, cabinets for storage, a refrigerator, microwave oven, a table and cushions and a TV antenna with a 12 V hookup.  This lightweight truck camper also comes with a 30 gallon water tank and heater, five  12 V inside lights, a demand water pump, an outside light (12 volt), a 52" x 15" front slider window -- even linoleum or carpeting!

Six Pac Campers

Finally, let me turn you on to some lightweight truck campers manufactured by Six-Pac.  Six-Pac makes a number of different models: the Delux 650, the Delux 850, the Standard 650, the Standard 850, and the T100-S, among others.

What type of features might you find on a Six-Pac lightweight truck camper?  First of all, they make their camper frames from kiln-dried Douglas fir which is a better wood than the typical pine used by many other manufacturers.  They also surround the frame of their lightweight truck campers with high-tensile steel for even greater strength and durability.  Six-Pac also installs brighter external lighting and gives you the option of purchasing rear floodlights with halogen bulbs.

And the inside of a Six-Pac lightweight truck camper is just as special: They use no particle board or press board in the interior construction.  The cabinets, countertops and wall panels are made from industrial mahogany to which has been added a vinyl finish for durability and easy cleaning.  And the fabrics and window blinds on these lightweight truck campers are designed to be easily cleaned and are manufactured from very durable materials.
